Goal Setting
Tis the luck of the Irish....
Or not?
Will you be searching for a little old guy wearing a green coat and wearing a green top hat?
Irish folklore says that if you are lucky enough to catch a leprechaun he will grant you three wishes in exchange for letting him go free. It also says that he has a pot of gold hidden in Ireland. Beware if you go searching for his pot of gold that is hidden you may fall victim to his mischief.
This little fairy creature has a mischievous nature and if you manage to catch him make sure your wishes cannot be twisted by him to bring about the worst case scenario. What would you wish for?
We make our own luck.
By setting goals and following through..
So your best and safest bet would be to learn to set goals to achieve your wishes. At least you have some control of the outcome through carefully planning and implementation. You are in control of your own prosperity. The easiest way to accomplish anything is to set goals.
Goals=dreams realized
If you can conceive it you can receive it
Realizing your dreams into reality can be achieved. But you have to set goals. Self improvement and self growth is about setting goals
Define the purpose
Write it out on paper
1. what is it you want to achieve?
2. Why do you want to achieve it?
3. When do you want to achieve it by?
Now you have the framework of realizing your dream.
Computer programmer’s program computers by telling what they want the computer to do every step of the way.
That’s what you have to do.
Write down every little step it takes to get to your success.
It’s like a recipe
You have the name of the dish you are going to make
Then you define the settings for the oven (if it’s getting put in an oven that is)
You have a list of ingredients that you will need to make the dish.
Then you have a precise step by step directions on the proper assembly for that dish.
Your list will look similar.
Remember, everything needs to be realistic.
You want to make sure your time definition is realistic. If it takes 3 hours to boil your beans, then it takes three hours no matter what, in one hour those beans are not going to be soft
So what is it you want to achieve?
Let’s do this together.
I want to learn to do tattoos.
To do this I will need to
Get a tattoo machine and a power supply for it, needles, inks, ink cups, patterns, transfer paper and a fake skin to practice on.
Once I have those items, I will need to learn how to assemble them.
Then I will have to learn how to set the power supply for the type of needle (shading or lining) I will be using.
Then I have to learn how to hold the machine and when to have it on or off.
Then I will have to learn how to transfer the pattern onto the fake skin.
Then I will have to practice on a fake skin.
I will also have to learn the after care of the skin after the tattoo is done.
As you will notice, I will have to learn every little step.
Which I will utilize the power of the computer to browse websites that offer advice and tips related to each of those questions. So for each item I will find a related webpage and bookmark it and label it the name of the step it will teach me.
Realistically, I will know how to do this in 3 days.
One day to set the machine up after researching how to do this online
One day to find the webpages to learn how to use the tattoo machine
And one day to begin tattooing on the fake skin.
Step by step by step, that is exactly how your GOAL will be realized.
By taking the time to do this your dreams can come true...You won’t have to go searching for a little old guy dressed in green and perhaps get misled.
Memorization Techniques to Help Your Recall Skill
By Rick Teller
Some of us really dislike having to remember things and it is even easier with our current technology to just let our gadgets hold all the information for us. Not such a good thing in the long run though because the more skill you lose at remembering things the more and more it will happen for you. It is better to keep your mind in good shape, just as it is to keep our bodies in good shape with regular exercise.
For some people an effective, fun and interesting way to remember things is by association with an object, at a particular time, in a particular place. This association also includes movement, or a passing through a structure or on a journey. You travel through this visualized structure or along this journey and at points along your way you use object, persons, and events to help you remember. Memory by association to things that happen to you or you encounter on the imaginary journey will help you recall the things you need to memorize.
Let's say for example after you see a movie you need to shop for food. It might be hard for some to remember the food items after the activity of watching a movie. You go to the movie theater and as you approach, there is a line at the ticket counter. This is a good opportunity to make your first association. You need lunchmeat, so you visualize that everyone in line is getting cold cuts for sandwiches. Next, you go into the lobby and head for the concession stand where you buy grapefruit and celery because the guy at the stand has hair which looks like the top of a celery stalk and the rather large and round popcorn seller has a head that reminds you of the grapefruit you need.
Where to next? You go find a seat, right? Except all the seats are cushioned loafs of bread because, you guessed it, you need bread. The ushers are looking like sponges and are holding mayonnaise jars that actually shine light to help people get seated. You need new sponges and also some mayonnaise and now you can remember that. Okay, so the funnier the story gets the more likely you will remember all the items that need picked up at the grocery.
Later, once you get to the grocery after your movie, you recall all your items as you remember the journey you took from the ticket booth where you got lunchmeat all the way to being seated on bread by sponge people with mayonnaise flashlights. It is easier to remember these things with the association to objects, sound, smell, visualization, movement, taste, and touch.
Try this - it is fun. Anything that makes the mundane more fun and helps like this association technique that is easy to use will come in handy for just about all memorization needs. You will be surprised how you can improve your memory. If you have a study group, this technique gets really fun and wild when more than one person is contributing to the association story.
